Camping and Professions
Learn how to build a shared campsite, contribute features, and prepare for the road.
Pre-launch preview · Beginner
Based on Blizzard's preview ↗A campsite gives travelers a place to prepare together. Blizzard’s preview expands the Cooking profession’s fire into a Basic Campfire: nearby players can add profession-crafted features and share their benefits.
A campsite at a glance
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Light a fire | A Basic Campfire creates the shared campsite. |
| Add features | Up to three special crafted features can be added to a basic camp; each nearby player can contribute one. |
| Take a moment | Sit or craft at the campsite for at least one minute to receive benefits from camp features. |
| Continue the journey | Camp feature effects include buffs and practical services; check what is available at that particular camp. |
Blizzard notes that some camp buffs are alternatives to corresponding class buffs rather than bonuses that stack with them. Choose a safe place to stop: enemies can still find you, including other players on a PvP ruleset.
What professions bring
Profession items can change what a camp offers. Blizzard’s examples include a Sharpening Wheel from Blacksmithing, an Incense Candle from Herbalism, and a Faction Banner from Tailoring. Other examples include a reagent vendor from Engineering and a tent from Leatherworking. These are examples, not a list of everything a campsite can contain.
A character can learn two primary professions and all three secondary professions: Cooking, Fishing, and First Aid. See Blizzard’s camping overview for the full sample list and the effects each item provides.
How to get started
An early quest introduces the system. Blizzard says a profession’s first campsite items become available at skill 20, through starter-area quests or profession trainers. It describes higher-level items as dungeon and raid drops. Camp features require a nearby campfire and share a one-hour cooldown according to the published preview.
Cooks can later learn upgraded fires that accommodate more features. For a first adventure, the basic routine is enough: fire, contributions, rest, then move on.
