Understanding Talent Choices
A straightforward introduction to the talent structure Blizzard described for Forever, and what remains to be verified.
Beta preview · Beginner
Based on Blizzard's preview ↗Talents are a way to shape how your character plays. Blizzard’s class previews describe familiar trees with updates for Forever, but not every Classic talent is unchanged. Treat old builds as inspiration, not a reliable Forever blueprint.
When talents begin
In its class deep dives, Blizzard says talents become available at level 10. The previews describe one-point milestone talents at 11, 16, 21, and 31 points in a tree. The 16-point milestone is new in Forever’s described structure. These are points spent in a tree, not character levels. The details come from beta-era announcements and should be checked again against the live game.
What the milestones mean
| Tree points | Blizzard’s preview |
|---|---|
| 11 | A one-point milestone in the familiar structure |
| 16 | An additional one-point milestone for Forever |
| 21 and 31 | Further one-point milestones in the tree |
The milestones do not tell you which talent to choose or guarantee that any Classic build works unchanged. Check the in-game tree for the current prerequisite, ranks, and descriptions.
Choosing a direction
The three paths for a class highlight different playstyles. Hunters can explore Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Survival, while Druids have Balance, Feral Combat, and Restoration. Start by reading the descriptions and thinking about what you enjoy, instead of assuming a single path is best for everyone.
Changing your talents
Blizzard says talent changes require a class trainer in a major city, and that Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40. Check the live game for the current requirements and costs.
Planning a build
Worever’s talent calculator will open for each class once its data has been verified. We will not substitute Classic data for Forever or present test data as a real build. Until then, use Blizzard’s class deep dives and the in-game interface to check your options.
