WoW Forever Launch Time and First-Day Checklist
Find the global launch time in your region, learn what you need to play, and prepare your first character with friends.
Pre-launch preview · Beginner
Based on Blizzard's preview ↗World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch globally on November 4, 2026 at 23:00 UTC. That’s the same moment worldwide, but in much of Europe and Asia it falls on November 5. Blizzard’s launch announcement is the source of the schedule below; check it again for changes or service announcements.

Do I need to buy an expansion or upgrade?
Blizzard says Forever is included with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time. An optional upgrade is not required to access the base Forever experience. The Skyborne race and its Zephras Isle starting experience require the Skyborne Heroic Pack or a higher eligible edition. Compare the current official edition details before purchasing: upgrades include different extras and may have time-limited benefits.
Qualifying purchases include launch-week invite codes for eligible friends, subject to Blizzard’s conditions. These codes grant access during the stated November 4–11 window; they are not a permanent substitute for a subscription or Game Time. See the official upgrade announcement for eligibility and restrictions.
Before launch: prepare in four steps
- Check your account and access. Sign in to Battle.net and confirm you have an active subscription or Game Time. If using an invite code, check the official conditions and redemption instructions.
- Install and select the game version. Install the Battle.net desktop app and select World of Warcraft: Forever from the available game versions. Review Blizzard’s current system requirements for your Windows PC or Mac.
- Agree with friends on two choices: faction and ruleset. Players need the same faction and ruleset for parties, guilds, dungeons, and raids. Normal is a straightforward starting point if you prefer to learn without frequent open-world PvP.
- Make a short list of classes. Compare the nine class profiles by preferred role and playstyle, then confirm the available race–class combinations in character creation. The class choice guide can help.
Blizzard announced optional early name reservation from October 27 through November 3 for eligible accounts. Names are first come, first served and the full name combination must be unique within your region. Check the official Forever page for conditions and availability.
Classic or Enhanced preset?
The first-login preset sets a starting look and interface; it does not choose your ruleset. Blizzard says the individual options can be changed afterward.
| Preset | Starting emphasis | Useful if you want… |
|---|---|---|
| Classic | Standard-definition models, a traditional layout, and less automatic quest guidance by default. | A more traditional presentation and fewer on-screen hints. |
| Enhanced | High-definition models, quest markers, a combined bag, and a centralized interface by default. | More visual guidance while learning the world. |
If this is your first WoW character and the choice feels unclear, Enhanced is a practical starting point. You can adjust individual settings later in Options. See Blizzard’s starter guide for the full preset details.
Can I play with a friend on another ruleset?
Blizzard says cross-ruleset parties, guilds, dungeons, and raids are not supported, and Alliance and Horde cannot group together. Players cannot freely switch a character between rulesets; Blizzard describes an exception for a deceased Hardcore character after that later ruleset becomes available. Battlegrounds may include players from other rulesets, with Hardcore separate. Confirm the latest details in the official ruleset guide.
Where should I go after creating a character?
Start with nearby quests and get comfortable with your action bar. Visit a class trainer as you level, make space in your bags, and discover flight paths. Our first adventure guide explains quests, combat, trainers, and group roles without assuming prior WoW experience. Returning players can use what Forever changes to revisit familiar assumptions about classes, talents, and gear.
